Extrusion Chief

Our Toronto, Ontario facility is seeking an Extrusion Chief to join our manufacturing team.

JOB TITLE: Extrusion Crew Chief

LOCATION:  HK – Toronto-Etobicoke

SHIFT AVAILABLE: Afternoon Shift - 3 PM – 11 PM 

(Note: There is a strong probability that this position will be transferred to the Night Shift (11 PM - 7 AM) in the future)


Pay: $ 18.71 /hr (training rate)

         $20.46/hr (rate once certified for starting as Crew Chief 1)

         + Applicable Shift Premium


Extrusion is the manufacturing process of forming raw rubber compound into various profiles and then curing using a microwave or heated salt curing process.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES are, but not limited to:

- Monitor & verify quality of profiles.

- Ensure that the compound is entering the extruder continuously & smoothly.

- Ensure all dimensions are within spec.

- Ensure the hardness of the profile is within limits as specified on the set-up sheet.

- Make regular checks on the water level in the cooling tank & ensure that the profile is centered on the hot air tunnel belt.

- Ensure Quality Control Extrusion Chart is completed for each crate.

- Ensure samples are available for the Q.C. Inspector & recorded on the form.

- Pack the extruded profile as instructed (this includes building of reels).

- Ensure printing & logo is correct & is in accordance with the drawing.

- Verify first-off is correct & signed off.

- Setup extrusion line as per the schedule.

- Document & record all required information.

- Operation of both the forklift counterbalance & reach truck (training will be provided if required)

- Perform other duties as required by supervision to meet production requirements.

- Must be able to meet & maintain company quality & production requirements.

- Ensure that company policies & procedures are followed.


- Incumbent spends almost 100% of his/her time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of light physical labour. Lifting, pulling, pushing, standing & walking consists of most of the work.

- Incumbent understands respects & adheres to the workplace Health & Safety rules & regulations which are derived from the Occupational Health & Safety Act


- Previous experience with rubber/plastics extrusion

- Self-motivated & results driven

- Troubleshooting & problem-solving skills

- High school diploma is preferred

- Effective communicator

- Read write & speak basic English

- Strong understanding of mathematics

- Must be able to use or can be trained on various types of measuring tools related to our gasket manufacturing process.
