| Extrusion |
Perhaps the most basic of present day rubber manufacturing techniques, extrusion involves the forcing of raw compound through a hole in a plate (extrusion die). The shape of the hole dictates the final shape of the product. Extruded material is then carried on a conveyor belt through a curing system.
Hamilton Kent utilizes 3 extrusion lines, 2 with micro-wave/hot-air curing and 1 with salt bath curing at its Toronto plant; plus a 3rd extruder/micro-wave system at its Kitchener plant.
Utilizing single or dual-head extrusion techniques, Hamilton Kents extrusion department can produce continuous strip, in single or dual durometer format, at up to 550lb (250 kg) per hour, and up to 13 (33cm) wide. |
